Commonwealth Scholarship Program 2023/2024 Master Study In U.K

The Commonwealth Scholarship program is one of three Master’s program which is fully offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

This Commonwealth Scholarship program Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the UK government scholarship scheme which is led by the international development objectives.

It operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and offers a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth and attracting individuals with awesome and unique talent and also, an identifiable potential from all the backgrounds and going ahead in supporting them in becoming leaders and innovators on returning back to their home.

Commonwealth Scholarship program has it purpose, which is to enable talented and individuals who are greatly motivated to gain the knowledge and skills which is required for a sustainable development. This is directly aimed at those who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.

The commonwealth scholarship program is sponsored by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

Also All Commonwealth Scholarships Program which are funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Department (FCDO) are offered under six CSC development themes. These includes;

Commonwealth scholarship program Eligibility Status

Before one can access the commonwealth scholarship program, she or he has to note that there are criterial that is to be completed, in other words, eligibility status has to be passed before you can enroll in full.

Also note that CSC aims in identifying talented individuals who have the potential to make an impact. The program are focused on a strategy of equivalent open door and non-separation and support applications from a different scope of candidates.

The number eligibility includes,

  • The Candidate must be a British protected person or possesses a refugee status and must come from Commonwealth countries.
  • The candidate must be living in his commonwealth country and should not b outside his or her country before he/she can participate in this program.
  • The U.Ks academic year begins September 2023, the interested candidate must be around to begin the academic session.
  • Candidates must have a first degree certificate of either upper second class honors or a 2:2 lower honors or any other postgraduate certificate in order to qualify into the masters program.
  • The candidate must have provided all the necessary document which is needed for his start up in this program.
  • The candidate must be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
  • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country.

Commonwealth scholarship program Selection process

The UK Universities participating in this program will have to conduct there own recruitment process, so as to select a specified number of candidates to be awarded the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships.

Universities also must put forward their selected candidates to the CSC in March 2023. The CSC will then confirm that these candidates meet the eligibility criteria for this program.

Universities will also be informing or pasting the candidates performances {their results} by July 2023.

The Applications will be considered according to the following selection criteria:

  • Academic merit of the candidate.
  • Quality of the plan of study.
  • Potential impact on the development of the candidate’s home country.

Tenure And Placements

Scholarships are tenable for any approved course offered by a participating UK university.

  • Scholars are only qualified to to obtain one degree. Any extra funding to get any higher degree which is not included in the program selected for will not be allowed.
  • Shared Scholarships are for full-time study only and no other course of study may be undertaken at the same time.
  • Candidates must take the necessary steps to apply for admission to their preferred university. Many courses have strict admission deadlines and candidates should check admission requirements carefully when applying.

The Financial Assistance

The commonwealth scholarship program is jointly funded by the CSC and the participating UK universities. The provide lots of benefits for the candidates which includes;

  • Scholars that have children and are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of £529 per month for the first child, and £131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if Scholars are accompanied by their children and they are living with them at the same address in the UK (rates quoted at current levels).
  • Scholars with disability, the full assessment of their needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC.
  • Contribution towards the cost of a mandatory tuberculosis (TB) test, where required for a visa application (receipts must be supplied) – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC.
  • Approved tuition fees: full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and Scholars are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee.
  • Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,236 per month, or £1,516 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels) – paid and funded by the university.
  • Warm clothing allowance, where applicable – paid and funded by the university
  • Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC.
  • Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas – claimed from and paid by the university; funded by the CSC.
  • Approved airfare from the Scholar’s home country to the UK and return at the end of their Scholarship (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before the award is confirmed) – funded by the CSC.

How Do I Apply To Commonwealth Scholarship program?

Applications for Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for the 2023/24 academic year are now open.

To get the application process done, there is every needs to look closely to the procedure being given out below in this very paragraph because it will be a guide to your journey.

Note that you can not apply for this commonwealth shared scholarship elsewhere. Applications for Commonwealth Shared Scholarships must be made using the CSC’s online application system.

Candidates can apply for more than one course {Check the commonwealth shared scholarship 2023 eligible courses} and to more than one university, however they may only accept one offer of a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship.

Also Note that Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are only for Master’s courses and not for undergraduate or PhD study. Please check with the chosen university for their specific advice on when to apply, admission requirements and rules for applying.

Candidates also needs to note that there is a huge need to complete their university application(s) before or after they submit their Commonwealth Shared Scholarship application. The CSC is unable to accept any applications that are not submitted via the CSC’s online application system.

Important Documents to include during Commonwealth Scholarship program Application process

There are important documents candidates needs to upload when applying to CSC. I will be listing them below for further clarification and understanding.

  • Candidate must upload copy of a valid passport (or national ID card) showing a photograph, date of birth, and country of citizenship.
  • Full transcripts detailing all higher education qualifications, including to-date transcripts for any courses currently being studied, with certified translations if not in English.

If any of the required documentation is not provided by the closing date, the application will be considered ineligible.

Please take note that the closing date or the application deadline for Commonwealth scholarship program is 13 December 2022 at 16:00 GMT.

Also note that The CSC will not accept supporting documentation submitted outside the online application system.
